The Ministry of Water Resources and the National Bureau of Statistics of China released the “First Gazette for the National Water Census” on March 26, 2013. There are 98,002 reservoirs covering 100,000 cubic meters and above in the country, mainly distributed in Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Sichuan, Hubei, Shandong and Yunnan provinces, accounting for 61.7% of the total number of reservoirs [1].
