2005年3月,因在2000年大选中支持陈水扁而有“绿色台商”之名的台湾奇美集团创办人许文龙发表了一份题为《奇美许文龙退休感言》的公开信,认同“台湾、大陆同属一个中国”。这份“退休感言”引起台湾政商各界热议,并被台湾媒体形容为“震撼弹”。这位在政治上颇具争议的人物,是台湾著名的企业家。他22岁出来闯天下,白手起家建立了奇美集团。目前奇美已是全球石化业中的佼佼者,许文龙个人也拥有将近九百亿新台币的资产。在《福布斯杂志》公布的2004年全球十亿美元富豪榜上,台湾有十人上榜,他排名第六。
