本文考证“美术”一词最早在中国的出现,指出“1910年南洋劝业会上设美术馆是‘美术’一词从日本进入中国之始”、“高剑父1911年举办个展是‘中国之有美展则以高氏为嚆矢’”这两个论点的谬误,并以第一手史料论证了早在1904年“美术”一词已出现在广东的报刊上,从此“美术”一词在社会上迅速地得到认同与伸延,并进入研究与应用。由此阐述了与之相关的20世纪初广东美术活动与社会发展的密切关系,如美术刊物的创办、美术会的出现、美术展览的兴起、美术学校及美术理论研究的发展,从而印证了广东在中国近代美术史上的重要地位。
This article examines the earliest appearance of “art” in China and points out that “the establishment of an art museum at Nanyang Quanye in 1910 is the beginning of the term ’art’ from Japan to China,” and “Gao Jian-fu held a solo exhibition in 1911 as China The Art of Beauty ”is based on the fallacies of these two arguments. The first-hand historical evidence demonstrates that as early as 1904, the term“ art ”appeared in the newspapers in Guangdong. Since then, the term“ art ” Society has quickly been recognized and extended, and into research and application. The related art activities in Guangdong in the early 20th century are closely related to social development, for example, the establishment of art publications, the appearance of fine arts exhibitions, the rise of art exhibitions, the development of art schools and the study of fine arts theory, thus confirming that Guangdong An Important Position in the Art History of Modern China.
