Objective To observe the effect of open reduction and Kirschner wire fixation in the treatment of unstable lateral humeral fractures in children, and to analyze the related complications. Methods The follow-up results of unstable lateral humeral condyle fractures in 26 children were retrospectively analyzed. X-ray films, elbow bearing angles and elbow joint range of motion were retrospectively analyzed. Combined with the main symptoms, complications and their management, epiphyseal dysplasia, Criteria to be assessed and classified. Results 26 cases received 14 to 37 months, an average of 25.8 months follow-up, the fractures have reached the bony union, no recurrence. 3 cases of lateral elbow bone occurred, no surgical treatment. According to Hardacre standard assessment: excellent in 21 cases, good in 5 cases. Conclusion For the unstable humeral lateral condylar fractures, open reduction and Kirschner wire fixation are the ideal choice of treatment, the safety and reliability are positive, the prognosis is satisfactory.
