Non-metallic inclusions are provided as a visual confirmation of the non-spontaneous core of spherical graphite. Non-metallic inclusions in the ductile iron are distributed according to the following: inclusions as a spherical graphite core; inclusions surrounded by graphite crystals; inclusions coexisting with graphite; and inclusions lumps distributed in the matrix. Non-metallic inclusions that have the greatest effect on ductile iron performance are isolated inclusions.
