八十年代前期,美国学者孙康宜发表了她研究中国古典诗词的两本英文专著:《晚唐迄北宋词体演进与词人风格》和《六朝诗研究》。问世之后曾在北美的汉学界引起了一定的关注。最近,《词》书的中译本即将在台湾出版,《六朝诗》已有人着手翻译,可见两书的学术成果也在中国本土开始引起注意。在此,我仅从个人的阅读心得出发,对两书中某些值得借鉴的方面作一评述,希望能引起国内的读者对通行的文学史读本所忽略的个别问题产生再思考的兴趣。 古代文论很早就注意到社会变迁对文学发展的决定性影响,自从刘勰提出“文变染乎世情,兴废系于时序”的论断,后世的文学史论著大都沿用这一模式描述历代文学演变的状况。文学的发展确实受到了社会现实的制约,但由于这种重视外部影响的文学史观始终没有同汉儒的
In the early 1980s, American scholar Sun Kangyi published two English books on her study of classical Chinese poetry: The Evolution of the Style of Chinese Poetry from the Late Tang Dynasty to the North Song Dynasty and the Study of Six Dynasties Poems. After the advent of sinology in North America has caused some attention. Recently, the Chinese translation of the word book is about to be published in Taiwan. Some people in the “Six Dynasties Poems” have started to translate it. The academic achievements of the two books have also started to attract the attention of the Chinese mainland. Here, I only comment on some aspects of the two books which are worth learning from my own personal reading experiences, hoping to arouse the interest of domestic readers in rethinking some of the problems that are neglected by the popular literary history books.
