Overview of Canada’s Electric Power System Reform Canada is located in North America. With a land area of 9.98 million square kilometers, Canada has 10 provinces and three special zones and is rich in hydropower, oil and natural gas resources. Canadian electricity mainly comes from hydropower, coal, oil and electricity, nuclear power, bio-power generation, wind power and so on. Canada’s electricity is managed by the provinces themselves, the provincial government has electricity regulatory agencies, and the power exchange between the provinces is coordinated by the Canadian National Grid Council (NEB). The provincial electricity regulatory agencies implement a system of electricity regulated by the North American Electric Power System Interconnection Council NAPSIC), North
