The dramatic creation of David Williamson was born out of the “New Wave” drama movement of the 1960s and ’70s. The “Don’s Party” as a representative play of this campaign not only presented “ G ”image, but also created a new Australian mythology on the theater stage. In “The Don’s Party,” Williamson shaped the group image of the young urban middle class “Oak” in his realistic style of creation and proclaimed the transformation of Australian mythology from rural to urban. While objectively presenting the male chauvinistic features of “Oakes,” Williamson insightfully exposed their vulnerability. The “Occidental Myth” embodied in “Don’s Party” is a homonym of “Jungle Mythology”, both of which are variations on Australian myths centered on the Anglo-Celtic white male character.
