Many contemporary Australian writers such as Tim Winton have been adapted into films. Even Winton even directly involved in the process of making films and writing scripts for the adaptation, has been different from the traditional role of the novelist. Winton’s active involvement in the film adaptation based on his own novels is inextricably linked with his concept of integration into the public novel. The “screen” of his novels is an extension of the social functions of the novel and reflects Winton’s strong humane care and social responsibility awareness. The “screen” trend in Winton’s novels is the externalization of the deep connotation of his concern for the public, its attempt to influence the public and thus the advancement and development of Australian society.
