近年来我们在白地、塔城、鲁甸、油米、宝山等地调查、收集的东巴文,及其支系的玛丽玛莎文、哥巴文、汝卡文等,无论是三百年以来遗存的数十份地契、会议纪要等文书,还是时尚的大标语、电话本以及即兴的信函、歌谣等,已经能够逐词逐句记录语言,甚至可以用东巴文记录藏语。这说明东巴文一直在发展,逐渐有了两大突破:第一突破宗教文字的社会功能局限,走向世俗民间实用文字;第二突破原始图画文字不能一一记录语言词句的局限,可以按语法顺序完整地书写语言,走向成熟文字。
