我国铸造用原砂蕴藏量丰富,但尚未被各地区就近进行调查开发。就西北地区来说,有的生产铸件工厂,仍采用定点的东北标准原砂和中南地区原砂。这样长途运输很不经济。鉴于这种状况,为寻找地区性高质量原砂,在1964年调查的基础上,于1979年又一次对宁夏地区铸造用原砂进行调查,共检查20多个砂源点。现将主要砂源点的原砂经过取样、化验、分析、检测和实物试验,供铸件生产工厂选用参考。调查研究的结果见附表。通过对宁夏地区铸造用原砂的初步调查,说明了我国质量较好的铸造用原砂蕴藏量相当丰富。表中所列宁夏地区原砂,经过取样化验、分析,基本上都可用于铸铁件生产,有的可直接开采使用。有的只要采用水洗、精选分级、烘干等工序加工生产,均可满足近代铸造高标准要求。其中较好的是固原地区天然硅砂
