After the outbreak of the Pacific War at the end of 1941, the Japanese quickly occupied the British colony of Hong Kong. In the three and a half years of its colonial rule over Hong Kong, Japan has aggressively promoted colonial education, strengthened its control over schools, drafted textbooks adapted to the needs of colonial rule, promoted Japanese teaching and enslaved young Hong Kong people while vigorously sabotaging the original education in Hong Kong In order to cultivate “talent” who serve the war of aggression by the Japanese imperialists. Under Japan’s rule, the number of schools in Hong Kong and the number of students dropped sharply, forming the darkest page in the history of education in Hong Kong.
