Affinity to the people is an inherent characteristic of the Communist Party of China (CPC) as a Marxist political party.
The People’s Republic of China created by the CPC has completely changed the social status of ordinary people who were oppressed and exploited in the past, and turned the working people into the masters of the country, fundamentally guaranteeing the rights of workers, farmers, intellectuals, and all patriots to manage state and social affairs as well as their democratic rights.
Nowadays, many countries are caught in conflicts, crises, turmoil, social divisions, increased poverty, and political farces. China, with a population of 1.4 billion, not only has no war, famine, or turbulence, but also relies on reform and innovation to develop the economy and improve the life quality of its people. What’s notable is China has lifted 740 million people out of poverty over the past four decades. China has realized “the most rapid large-scale poverty reduction in human history over the last 25 years,” stated a 2016 World Bank document. Meanwhile, China has built the world’s largest education, medical care, and social security systems, which have enhanced the sense of happiness, gain, and security of its people. People’s lives have generally reached a comfortably well-off level.
The interdependence of countries has never been stronger than it is today. China proposes to build a community of shared future and connect the Chinese dream with the beautiful dreams of people all over the world. China is willing to work with the international community to promote peace, development, and human rights. To develop itself amid global development, achieve universal benefits and win-win results in benign interactions with other countries, and continue to provide markets, add momentum, and create opportunities for the world economy are the goals it strives for. Exporting development dividends through public products such as the Belt and Road Initiative and increasingly open policies, it benefits the people of all countries and contributes more than 30 percent to global economic growth.
From a global perspective, sustainable development represents the maximum benefit and optimum cooperation. During the plenary session of the 23rd St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) held in Russia on June 6, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for joint efforts in creating an open world economy, people-oriented and inclusive societies, and a beautiful homeland with harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature, so as to hold the “golden key” of sustainable development to solve global problems. Xi’s remarks are in line with the three major tasks of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: economic growth, social development, and environmental protection, embodying oriental wisdom and China’s responsibility in blazing a path of sustainable development and promoting human development and prosperity.
To this end, China would like to share its most advanced scientific achievements with the world, including 5G technologies, strengthen exchanges and cooperation on issues such as poverty alleviation and social security, pay more attention to environmental protection in international cooperation, and implement the consensus of the international community such as the Paris Agreement to combat climate change.
So to speak, benefiting people of the world and making great efforts for the world are the natural extension and internal requirements of the CPC’s original intentions and mission. According to President Xi Jinping, China will always follow the path of peaceful development and always pursue an open strategy of mutual benefit and win-win results. China is committed not only to its own development, but also to its responsibility and contribution to the world; not only benefiting the Chinese people, but also benefiting the people of the world.
