1933年举办的“巴黎中国美术展览会”是艺术家运用展览、舆论等现代手段主动回应西方带给中国艺术的挑战。展品和舆论构成的文化空间,以民族情绪为线索将艺术家与国家形象联系起来是艺术家对民族身份建构的尝试;同时将此期现代美术置于西方语境之中来思考现代美术过程与西方和传统之间的关联。因而,这次展览是与西方对话的有益尝试,也是民族主义情绪下对传统美术重新审视。
The “Paris China Art Exhibition” held in 1933 is an artist’s initiative to respond to the challenge brought by the West to Chinese art by means of modern means such as exhibitions and media. Exhibits and public opinion constitute a cultural space to national emotions as a clue to connect the artist and the country’s image is the artist’s attempt to construct national identity; at the same time this period of contemporary art in Western context to think about the process of modern art and Western and The link between traditions. Thus, this exhibition is a useful attempt to engage in dialogue with the West and a re-examination of traditional fine arts under the influence of nationalism.
