古城镇江春意盎然。前不久,茅以升科技教育基金第八届颁奖大会在此举行。几十位学有建树的莘莘学子从颁奖领导手中捧回烫金的大红证书,心情无比激动。茅以升科技教育基金的设立,是为了纪念我国桥梁工程先驱、杰出的教育家和社会活动家、第六届全国政协副主席茅以升先生。该基金自1991年设立至今,为继承和发扬茅以升教授的未竟事业和崇高精神,促进我国科技教育事业的繁荣和发展,开展了多方面的工作,在社会上产生了良好的影响。8年来,共奖励了441位取得突出成绩的科技工作者、教育工作者和优秀学生;组织、支持学术交流及其他教育活动;在全国许多城市展出了《茅以升生平事迹展览》和《桥梁知识与中国桥梁建设成就展览》,产生了广泛的影响;基金的委员单位扩大到包括全国政协、九三学社中央参加的几十个部门和单位,经济实力不断壮大。几年来,该项基金支持、资助了有关科技普 Spring in the ancient city of spring.
