Depression is one of the central themes of “Perpignan or a Hermit of Greece.” The protagonist Perpignan, from his efforts to seek the balance of the two worlds of nature and humanity in his heart, until the eventual restoration of the hidden forests, can be seen as a process of fighting self-division in depression. Lacanian, a French psychologist and philosopher, brought Hegel’s self-awareness thoughts into Freud’s psychoanalysis of depression and explained from a philosophical point of view that depression was brought as an unavoidable presence The split of self-awareness. This article attempts to explain Lacroix’s theory of self-identity and explain the root causes of Periopion’s depression.
