Spain, China Sign Deal on Audiovisual Exchange
Spain’s Teatro Real (Royal Theater) and China’s National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) have signed an agreement on exchange of audiovisual content through an online platform, Palco Digital.
The accord will allow consumers to view material on demand. Following the launch of this project, viewers from several countries will be able to view operas, dance dramas, and music dramas on the Internet.
For Garcia-Belenguer, the agreement is another step towards greater collaboration between the two institutions which have enjoyed a close relationship since last year.“Cultures are connected,”said Wang Ning, president of NCPA “We are going to present the classical operas of the world to Chinese audiences, but we also want to introduce some Chinese operas to the world to help integration and exchange between cultures.”
“I think this cooperation is very important, especially under the the Road and Belt framework,” he added. In the future, the two sides will explore more cooperation models in the production of opera and opera film, as well as art education and art popularization.
First Chinese Singing Contest Held in Bulgaria
To encourage Chinese language learning and cultural exchanges, the first Chinese singing contest was held in Sofia, Bulgaria, on April 7. More than 50 students from all over Bulgaria participated in the event, which was organized by the Confucius Institute in Sofia.
Danail Stoyanov stood first among the participants in the contest, which was also dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bulgaria.
The 18-year-old Stoyanov has participated in various competitions related to China. He won the 10th “Chinese Bridge”– Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students– in 2017.
“The exchange of students between the two countries has been increasing year on year. Cultural exchange and education cooperation are important pillars in bilateral relations,”said Dong Xiaojun, Chinese ambassador to Bulgaria.
According to Professor Anastas Gerdjikov, rector of the Sofia University, cultural exchanges are important activities that link the two peoples together; the singing contest is just one of many examples of how culture can make two peoples come together.
Chinese Calligraphy and Ink Painting on Exhibition in Australia
A unique exhibition, the first in Australia, explores the grand historical sweep of Chinese art and calligraphy tradition at the National Museum of Australia(NMA) starting on April 5. The exhibition will run until July 28. The exhibition, The Historical Expression of Chinese Art: Calligraphy and Painting from the National Museum of China(NMC), consists of more than 100 objects from China.
Chinese Ambassador to Australia Cheng Jingye said at the opening ceremony that cultural exchange is an important part of bilateral relations between China and Australia. “Art knows no boundaries and exchanges can bridge gaps,” he said.
“The more our cultural exchanges are conducted, the deeper our two peoples understand each other. It is my sincere wish that cultural institutes in our two countries could join hands and make even greater contributions to the development of SinoAustralia relations,” he said.
“The exhibition is not only able to tell us about the nature of Chinese art, but the broader society as well,” said Mathew Trinca, director of NMA.
“Through this exhibition, we hope to share with the Australian audience the artistic interpretation of Chinese painting and calligraphy on history and life, the aesthetic concept contained in it, and the spiritual pursuit embodied in it,” said Shan Wei, deputy director of NMC.
