Recently, Dr. Takahashi Takahashi, Dr. Kitamura Kawayoshi and others at the First Department of Surgery at Kyoto Medical University in Kyoto developed a new method for treating cancer. This is done by making a monoclonal antibody that selectively binds only to the colon cancer cells, and connecting the antibody to an anti-cancer agent to treat cancer. They first transplanted the metastatic cancer cells of a 56-year-old male patient who had metastasized to the liver after the onset of colorectal cancer to produce lymphocytes that secrete the corresponding antibodies; then, the well-proliferated bone marrow cells were fused with the lymphocytes. It is a monoclonal antibody “A7” that specifically binds to cancer cells. “A7” has strong binding to colorectal cancer cells but hardly binds to normal cells. Using this substance, an anti-cancer agent was linked to this antibody to develop a new anti-cancer drug. Then, they put this medicine on (?)
