The tragic fate of protracted slavery, the unequal treatment of racial discrimination and gender bias determine the thematic tone of identity seeking and self-identification of black female theater creations. In the social ideology dominated by patriarchal culture and racial prejudice, black American women are excluded from the mainstream culture and are at the edge of ethnicity and gender. Gibson’s “Reunion” is about the bitter experience and mental confusion of black women under race and gender discrimination. This article intends to explore the black women subversion “other ” identity, change the marginalized situation, the construction of self-cultural identity related issues.
