The adaptation of children’s literature is a more specific genre in children’s literature, as one concludes that it is merely a contempt for simplification of the original. However, adaptation of children’s literature is not synonymous with mere shorthand, it does not even necessarily simplify the original, but is more influenced by historical contexts and literary traditions and the overall development of children’s literature. This paper tries to explore the complex relationship between the adaptation of children’s literature and its social context and literary tradition by taking the edition of Robinson Crusoe in the 18th and 19th centuries as an example. It also shows the potential and importance of the research on the adaptation of children’s literature Sex.
