“Where did the computers of 1995 go?” Zhou Limin, manager of Planning Department of Zhongguancun Maintenance City, raised the question to reporters. From the mid-1990s onwards, 486 computers went into the homes of ordinary people. The Chinese put forward the slogan “Learn how computers start with their babies.” According to the update rate of home computers in five years, those who have helped us into the information age “hero” into unattended e-waste, this amount in the end how? One fact can tell you some questions: According to Greenpeace, about 80% of the global e-waste is destined for Asia and 70% of it is digested by China. In recent years, Guiyu, a town in Guangdong province of China, has been vividly regarded as a “treatment base” for e-waste. However, how much e-waste can be “digested” by Guiyu, which uses “infusion” of drinking water?
