Although it mainly focuses on the review of related works by professional historians, related works such as archeologists, geographers and other scholars may also be discussed occasionally because scholars in other disciplines are also engaged in the study of environmental history . This paper presents a preliminary definition of this area of ​​research, describing its origins, development and institutionalization from the 1970s to 2010. This essay briefly studies some related works in some parts of the world and focuses on the areas where environmental history studies in South Asia and Latin America are developing rapidly and showing great vitality. This article examines the prominent position of American historians (rather than ordinary Americans) in this field of study and the gradual erosion of this prominent position. Reviews the role of historians in environmental history studies, cites some criticisms of environmental history, and comments on some of the major discoveries in the field in recent years.
