Ford 的经验表明.采用 CBN 镶块取代陶瓷镶块之后,换刀时间由每天1小时减少到每周15分钟。尽管,现代自动线能够在一个工作班内连续地自动地生产高质量的零件,然而,由于刀具的耐用度不高,生产率常常受到限制。或者说,要换刀自动线就得中断进行,中断运行该班产量当然就减少了。在 Ford 的 Indianapolis 转向机制造厂的壳体加工自动线上,用 CBN 镶块取代了陶瓷镶块之后,刀具寿命延长22.5倍,自动线生产率提高10%,同时还改善了制件质量。在这条自动线上,要完成动力转向控制阀壳体的许多工序(图1),特别是其上的一个深度为2in 的滑阀孔,通过仅备有一个CBN 镶块的镗杆的一次行程就得到了最后的尺寸精度和表面粗糙度。
Ford’s experience shows that replacing the ceramic insert with a CBN insert reduced tool change time from 1 hour per day to 15 minutes per week. Although modern automatic lines are capable of producing high-quality parts continuously and automatically in a work station, productivity is often limited due to the low durability of the tool. In other words, to change the knife automatically cut off the line, of course, to interrupt the production of the class reduced. At Ford’s Indianapolis Steering Plant’s shell-processing automation line, replacing the ceramic insert with a CBN insert increased tool life by 22.5 times, automated line productivity by 10% and improved part quality.
