Pew research center on the United States over the age of 65 elderly “digital connection ” survey found that 1/3 of the elderly never use the Internet. The United States over the age of 65 accounted for 15% of the total population, about 46 million people. However, the “adoption rate” of the elderly in the United States is constantly increasing. Already, 42% of people own smartphones, up from 18% in 2013. The Pew Research Center found that about half of US seniors do not have broadband internet in their homes. This percentage is very low compared to people of other ages. Among those aged 31 to 49, there are 81% of people with broadband internet in their homes. Among people aged 50 to 64, 75% of people have broadband in their homes.
