Some wily Chinese investors have used their non-tradable shares to accumulate a great deal of wealth over the years, and now foreign funds and investment banks are also beginning to realize the tremendous wealth hidden behind non-tradable shares. Due to historical reasons, stocks in China’s securities market are divided into tradable shares and non-tradable shares. Non-tradable shares refer to the shares held by Chinese listed companies held by Chinese state-owned entities that are not circulating in Shanghai or Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Non-tradable shares can be divided into state-owned shares, state-owned legal person shares and social legal person shares according to the holder’s identity. According to the nature of the establishment, non-tradable shares can be divided into promoter legal person shares and social raised legal person shares. According to the relevant regulations, non-tradable shares temporarily can not be circulated.
