British scientists conducted experiments on mice that had been fed and found that when mice were full, they secreted a special hormone that scientists called “PYY-36”. The researchers extracted the hormones and injected them into mice before they were fed. The results showed that the mice would not eat any more even if they faced food. The scientists conducted further biological experiments on the “PYY-36” hormone and discovered that it had no toxic or side effects. This encouraged scientists to have the courage to conduct similar experiments on humans. They selected 12 volunteers in the UK, injected 6 of them with the hormone, and the remaining 6 received only placebo. As a result, the amount of people who injected this hormone was reduced by one-third of the amount of rice that was eaten at ordinary times, while those who received placebo were given the same amount of food.
