Allegheny Technologies (ATI) stopped production of titanium sponge, leaving only one raw material production plant in the United States. The Orphematt-Huachang Sponge Titanium Plant, which was approved by the special metal production company in Pittsburgh for closure, has an annual production capacity of 6,750 tons. This means that in the future, titanium sponge will be purchased from the outside to produce ingots, billets and other products. This move made the largest titanium producer in the United States - titanium
