事件回顾:厦门通士达照明有限公司是厦门通士达有限公司与美国GE公司合资的国有控股公司,是中国照明行业的龙头企业之一。3月25日,美国俄亥俄州非营利政策研究机构Policey Matters Ohio (简称PMO)发布了《好灯泡,坏工作:荧光灯背后的工人和工作环境》的调查报告称,厦门通士达照明有限公司以种种形式压榨工人血汗,如员工每月工作250/小时以上、员工经常饿肚子等种种情况。事件发生后,GE公司11名专家组奔赴厦门开展了为期一周的现场调查。结论是通士达公司没有违反劳动法规的行为,也没有证据表明有如该报告中所声称那样的有员工致伤的事件发生,没有员工提出对工作条件以及实际操作心存顾虑。4月10日,GE公司发表声明称PMO不能够提供支持其所谓“调查”的具体调查方法;这种草率且未经过仔细调研便出台的所谓“报告”中的各种与事实不符、不完整及不准确的表述对GE以及通士达公司良好的声誉以及记录造成了损害。
Event Review: Xiamen Tongshida Lighting Co., Ltd. is a state-owned holding company jointly invested by Xiamen Tongshida Co., Ltd. and GE. It is one of the leading companies in the lighting industry in China. On March 25, the Ohio State Nonprofit Policy Research Organization Policey Matters Ohio (PMO) released a survey report entitled “Good Light Bulbs, Bad Work: Workers and Working Environments Behind Fluorescent Lamps,” said Xiamen Topstar Lighting Co., Ltd. Various forms of squeezing workers sweat, such as employees working more than 250 hours per month, employees often hungry and other conditions. After the incident, 11 GE experts team went to Xiamen to conduct a one-week on-site investigation. The conclusion is that the company has not violated the labor laws, and there is no evidence that employees in the report have caused injuries. No employees have expressed concerns about working conditions and actual operations. On April 10, GE issued a statement saying that PMOs could not provide specific investigation methods to support their so-called “investigations”; the so-called “reports” in various forms and facts that had been introduced rashly without careful investigation. Inconsistent, incomplete and inaccurate representations have caused damage to the good reputation and records of GE and Topstar.
