Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, Love, and so on. One day, it was announced to them that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and were ready to leave, except Love. He wanted to hold out until the last moment. When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.
　　 Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said, “Richness, can you take me with you?”
　　 Richness answered, “No, I can’t. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place for you.”
　　 Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. “Vanity, please help me!”
　　 “I can’t help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat,” Vanity answered.
　　 Sadness was close by and Love asked, “Sadness, let me go with you.”
　　 “Oh ... Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!”
　　 Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she didn’t even hear Love.
　　 Suddenly, there was a voice, “Come, Love, I will take you.” It was an elder. So overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder who she is.
　　 At last, Love asked Knowledge, “Who Helped me?”
　　 “It was Time,” Knowledge answered.
　　 “Time?” asked Love. “Why did Time help me?”
　　 Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, “Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is.”
　　 从前，有个小岛上住着各种各样的情感：有幸福，悲伤，聪慧，爱情等等。有一天，他们被告知小岛即将沉没，大家纷纷建造小船准备离去，只有爱情没有行动，他打算撑到最后一刻。当小岛真的快沉没时，爱情才开始求救。
　　 财富驾着华丽的大船路过爱情身旁，他向财富乞求：“财富，能带上我吗？”
　　 财富答道：“不可以，我的船里面载满了金银，没地方载你。”
　　 虚荣驾着漂亮的船儿经过，爱情向他求救，“虚荣，请帮帮我吧。”
　　 虚荣答道：“我帮不了你，你浑身湿碌碌的，说不定会弄坏我的船。”
　　 悲伤路过爱情身边，于是爱情乞求道：“悲伤，带我一起离开这里吧。”
　　 “哦……爱情，我太伤感了，只想一个人呆着。”
　　 快乐也路过这里，但是她太兴奋了以至于她根本没有听到爱情的哀求声。
　　 这时，耳边突然响起了声音，“过来吧，爱情，我带你离开这里。”这声音是位长者的。由于爱情终于能离开这里而太高兴，以至于他忘了问长者是谁。
　　 最后，爱情向长者智慧问道：“那位帮我的人是谁？”
　　 智慧答道：“是时间。”
　　 “时间？”爱情问道, “它为什么要帮助我呢？”
　　 智慧微哂，禅定道来：“因为只有时间才能真正懂得爱情有多重要。”
