政治工具论文艺观作为20世纪30年代左翼文学理论的重要组成部分,是左联理论家们基于现实斗争需要的政治实用主义文艺论,其中因误译而产生的所谓列宁的“党的文学”论为其提供了权威性的理论资源。毛泽东《在延安文艺座谈会上的讲话》则把30年代颇有争议的工具论、武器论文艺观加以明确的肯定和升级,是对被误读了的列宁思想的进一步改造和立法。尽管这里有着译者、传播者的主体观念逻辑和政治家的实用主义需要,但在经典马克思主义文艺理论资源还很有限的的年代,这种观念和思想来源的“权威性”所发生的巨大作用是无与伦比的。
