Objective To study the relationship between APN level and ankle brachial index (ABI) in T2DM patients and to explore the related factors of APN and ABI. Methods 118 patients with T2DM were divided into peripheral vascular disease (PAD) group and non-PAD group according to ABI. The APN and clinical indexes were determined. Results (1) Compared with non-PAD group, PAD group had longer age, shorter height, longer duration of diabetes and lower APN level (P <0.05). (2) The level of APN was negatively correlated with BMI and HbA1c, but positively correlated with HDL-C and ABI. There was a negative correlation between ABI and age, LDL-C and duration of diabetes, and positively correlated with APN (P <0.05). (3) BMI, HDL-C and ABI were independent factors influencing APN (P <0.05). Age and APN were independent factors influencing ABI (P <0.05). Conclusion The level of APN in T2DM patients is independently and positively correlated with ABI. APN is an important predictor of PAD.
