1996年4月1日上午9时,上海至南京开出了第一列快速列车“先行号”,时速达140公里。这是紧随广深准高速铁路时速160公里后,在普通铁路干线上开行的第一列快速列车。原广深铁路是经过了全面改造后才成为准高速铁路的。该线的建成,标志着我国铁路现代化水平上了一个新台阶。沪宁铁路是经过局部改造后开行的快速列车,这对今后在既有繁忙干线上普及开行快速列车起到了示范作用,其意义也非同一般,也将载着中国铁路发展史册。
At 9:00 on April 1, 1996, Shanghai to Nanjing opened the first express train “first line” at a speed of 140 kilometers per hour. This is the first express train to be launched on an ordinary railroad link immediately after the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Zhushuilan expressway runs 160 kilometers per hour. The original Guangshen Railway became a quasi-high-speed railway after a complete transformation. The completion of this line marks a new stage in the modernization of the railway in our country. The Shanghai-Nanjing Railway is a fast train that has been opened after partial transformation. This plays an exemplary role in popularizing fast trains on existing busy lines in the future, and its significance is also unusual.
