This paper explores the new possibilities of the novel in the context of technologies of computerhypertext. One of the central argmnents of the paper is that the operational logic of the novel can be made toapproximate that of a web of hypertext links. The author also argues that the hope of the renaissance of thenovel Iies in the technologically enhanced speed of the traffic in models between smooth space and striatedspace.
