The center specializes in oil drilling research and is located in the research park in the west of Cambridge. The project’s design task book stipulates: 1. To provide scientists with the greatest possibilities for mutual contact and conversation; 2. To be able to place full-scale drilling simulation devices and conduct circulation tests; 3. To take into account the possibility of future expansion. The designer designed the two laboratories as a single floor with steel frames and glass curtain walls. The engineering pipeline is laid in the trench. The upper part of the partition wall of the corridor is a glass window, and the ceiling is a sound-absorbing panel. The two laboratories are separated by 24 meters, during which a framework of tensioned steel structures is used and covered with special translucent glass cloth.
