中华全国图书馆协会即今天的中国图书馆学会之前身,她成立于本世纪二十年代。我在六十多年前亲自参加了该学会成立大会暨第一届年会,以及几年后的第二届年会。现根据记忆,叙述这两次会议情况如下。1924～1930年间我曾任中国近代最大的私人藏书机构一南浔刘氏嘉业藏书楼主任,负责为该楼的50多万卷、约17万册古书编目。记得是在到该楼工作后不久,接到出席中华全国图书馆协会成立大会的邀请函。这次大会在南京召开,代表约200名,来 The All-China National Library Association, the predecessor of today’s China Library Association, was founded in the 1920s. I personally attended the founding conference and the first annual meeting of the institute sixty years ago, and the second annual meeting a few years later. The memory of these two statements is as follows. From 1924 to 1930, I was the director of Nanxun Liu’s Jiaye Library, the largest private collection institution in modern China. I was responsible for cataloging more than 500,000 books and about 170,000 ancient books for that building.
