无线电通信因摆脱了通信线路的束缚,建立迅速,便于基地能同运动中的、方位不明的以及在战时被敌人分割或遭自然障碍阻隔的部队迅捷地建立通信联络。在对飞机、舰艇、坦克等运动目标进行指挥时,甚至是唯一的通信手段。在抢险救灾中无线电台也能大显神通。 但是,目前使用的无线电台无论在工作方式、调制方式、接口方式、工作频率以及加密方法等方面存在着自成体系、互不兼容的现象。由于互通性差,不能直接接口,因而导致无线电台型号林立,品种和数量不断增多,已不能满足现代战争对通信的需求。
