(I) Overview The medical application of radioisotopes, although not long term, has progressed very rapidly and is becoming more and more important. As a result, a new area of medicine, often called nuclear medicine, has emerged. Nuclear medicine occupies a certain position in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and its use to study human metabolic processes shows its superiority. Nuclear diagnostic instruments and radiation therapy devices are essential tools for the diagnosis and treatment of tumors. Isotope flicker scanners and gamma scintillation cameras are the two main nuclear diagnostic instruments currently available.
