Recently, at the invitation of Shanghai University of Science and Technology, Dr. Christopher Ruhr, a world famous scholar and chief economist of British Petroleum Group, made an academic report on the ”2013 World Energy Statistical Yearbook of Bp“ at the Chinese Academy of Sciences Pudong Science and Technology Park in Shanghai. The BP World Energy Statistical Yearbook is the oldest compilation of global energy statistics and the 2013 yearbook is BP’s 62nd yearbook. In the report, Ruhr pointed out that in the global economic downturn, global energy consumption growth slowed to 1.8% in 2012, much lower than the average growth rate of 2.6% in the past 10 years. Affected by the economic slowdown and high oil prices, the oil consumption in the OECD countries, which have many developed countries as a member, dropped 1.3% from a year earlier, the sixth year of decline in the past seven years last year.
