The local mode coupling theory was used to compare and analyze the transmission characteristics of two types of fiber probes - the corrosion cone and the melt taper in the near field optical microscope (SNOM). The distribution of coupling efficiency when light is transmitted in the probe cone is given, and the transmission efficiency varies with the length of the cone, the diameter of the tip and the wavelength of the light
