This article reports one case of abrupt withdrawal of ACTH due to α-particle irradiation in the pituitary. Pituitary secretion failure secondary to pituitary tumor infarction has been reported in the past. This may be due to a radiation therapy-induced pituitary tumor infarct, or it may be a coincidence of spontaneous pituitary tumor infarction and radiation therapy. Radiation can cause a decrease in ACTH secretion, which is caused by damage to the hypothalamus or pituitary tumors. The hypothalamic injury is associated with dysfunction of the hypothalamus such as changes in body temperature, mood swings, and other hormone-promoting disorders, but this example does not see these
