In the era of globalization, folk artists are required to be exposed to a cultural context beyond the research field and to regard tradition and folklore as a dynamic process. This raises the issue of the rights, identities and ethics of the researcher and his research subject or data provider in the production of folklore knowledge (folklore process). It is a “moral story” that modern scholars must face or tell first.
