When the tractor turns, the roller and the caterpillar form an angle β, and a lateral force acts on the roller. Let the support roller contact with the track guide flange at point a (see Figure 1). The vertical load Q, thrust P, and lateral force F are applied to the roller. Under the lateral force F, the flange will produce an upward frictional force T on the roller at point a, which attempts to disengage the roller from the track. The point a is now the three-way vertical coordinate xyz. In addition to the Q, P, and F forces acting on it, the frictional reaction force T of the flange against the roller is still acting.
