After seeing off my students going to attend the college oral examination at 6:00 am, I went to Beijing for the flight for the USA. Immediately getting off the train, I took a shuttle to the Beijing Airport. About an hour later, I entered T3 Terminal. As I often do when going to a strange place, I asked the airport waittess at the entrance where Delta Airflight Station is. To my surprise, I was told that I should have got off at T2 Terminal, which I had passed by. Then I had to take a shuttle back. Luckily, I had enough time and when I got there it was still too early for me to check-in .
At about 15:40 I went aboard the flight from PEK to DTW and after all the passengers were seated, safety instructions were played on the small TV set in front of each of us. Then the flight took off at 4:50 very steadily.
All the way , I ate, sleep, enjoyed scenery during the more than eleven hours.
After getting off the flight, I went to pass the custom inspection. When it was my turn, the security officer asked me why I went to America and then he asked for the address where my son was staying. When I told him that I forgot, he found it out on the computer quickly and filled it in himself. Then he said to me “Have a nice day!”, which is now used amost everywhere in America, as is “Thank you.”
Then I went to claim my luggage nearby. Carrying it, I went to have it managed for the next flight. Now, I was told that I could go straight on board the flight from Detroit to Dalas in two hours after paying 50 dollars. But thinking my son had paid for my night in the airport hotel and that I wantet to see more places, I refused. I asked them whether I could have my luggage checked so that I could avoide taking it to the hotel. To my regret, I was told “No”. When I walked about seven metres and wondered which way I shoud go, there came an airport employee and he asked another two passengers whether they needed help. Then I went up and told him that I wanted to have my luggage managed for the next flight. He told me I could, and gladly I returned to the counter and had it managed quickly — they just printed a luggage note and tied it on the handle of my luggage. Then another airport employee took it away.
Light-hearted now, I went to find the hotel. After asking the way several times, I arrived at the first American hotel. And the next day, after going out of the airport, I saw my son waiting for me.
