十一届三中全会与遵义会议的历史地位极为重要，这两次会议都是中共党史上的伟大转折。是中共新的中央领导集体及其核心确定的标志。这两次会议能够取得成功的原因也有相同点，有着深刻的历史启示：通过反“左”、纠“左”，坚持解放思想、实事求是是实现转折的首要前提；稳固和维护中央领导集体及其核心的权威是实现转折的关键；在组织上对人的处理采取慎重的态度是实现转折的保证
