According to the prediction of McKinsey & Associates Consultants Inc. by the American magazine Oil & Gas, the world’s offshore oil production will grow at an average annual rate of 4.4% from 1998 to 2000 and to reach 1.2288 billion tons by 2000. The output of offshore oil in North America, Central America and the United States will rise from 1862 million tons in 1997 to 224.4 million tons in 2000; South America will increase from 108.8 million tons to 117.8 million tons; North Sea and Western Europe will increase from 281.91 million tons to 311.5 million tons; and Eastern Europe will increase from 19.7 million tons 0.28 billion t; the Mediterranean region will increase from 5,058 million t to 0.064 billion t; West and East Africa will increase from 142.3 million t to 167.2 million t; the Middle East will increase from 192.1 million t to 212.5 million t; and the Asia Pacific region will increase from 1.417 100 million t to 161 million t.
