In the 1995 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, the merit show was collected by Milhoniabealei (Fort.) Carr. The stems of Mahonia fortunri (Lindl.) Fedde and Mahonia fortunax are the same as those of other plants. The medicine has the effects of heat and dampness, purging and detoxification, and modern research proves to have various physiological activities such as antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.
