通用电气公司的特殊材料部最近透露,它业已研制出新型的GEOSET钻探用金刚石。它是一种热稳定性好的、能自锐的聚晶金刚石,据报道,用GEOSET镶制的钻头可获得好质量的岩芯而钻速则比传统的表镶金刚石钻头高三倍。GEOSET与天然金刚石一样,具有热稳定性,可承受1200℃高温而不发生裂解,因而可采用现有烧结方法来制造钻头,也可以回收天然金刚石的常规方法加以回收。
GE’s Specialty Materials Division recently revealed that it has developed a new GEOSET diamond for drilling. It is a thermally stable, self-sharpening polycrystalline diamond. It has been reported that diamonds made from GEOSET are reported to produce good quality cores while drilling three times faster than conventional surface mount diamond bits. Like natural diamonds, GEOSET is thermally stable and can withstand temperatures up to 1200 ° C without cracking, making it possible to produce drill bits using existing sintering methods or by conventional methods of recovering natural diamonds.
