In many cases, the most profitable supply options are not necessarily the safest and most reasonable supply chain. Businesses must be aware that it is also a very important issue for who else to purchase from whom to purchase. Globalization is a well-known economic megatrend on the premise that how many people think of a seemingly unconventional issue: Manufacturing, originally intended to reduce the risk of global procurement, actually increases the risk of supply chain breakdowns. This unorthodox perspective comes from Professor Kostas Bimpikis at Stanford Business School. In his view, the trend of decentralization of suppliers has gone beyond manufacturing and has implications for all industries.
