In early 1974, Wilkard, a 5-year-old child in the island of Reith-Niet, in Norway, stumbled upon the frozen river. After 40 minutes, people saved their children from the river. After another 20 minutes, when there was no lucky hope for the doctor to give the child a routine artificial respiration and an extracorporeal heart massage, the child actually showed signs of life. Afterwards, after two days and nights of unconsciousness, Vicarde opened his eyes and asked: “My glasses?” It seems that a full 1-hour clinical death has caused him almost no disruption in brain activity.
