谈论起中国近20年以来的当代艺术史,陈箴绝对是一位无法错过的艺术家。陈箴(1955-2000)上海人,中国最早的装置艺术家之一,80年代移居巴黎,开始使用日常物创作装置作品,如帆布床、床垫、保龄球等等。作为一位活跃于西方的跨文化的中国籍艺术家,他善于向世界发问,向人性发问。由于他对本土文化深刻的反思、领悟,又将本土文化向外来文化全面开放而找到了属于自己的跨越两者的道路。陈箴的作品蕴涵丰富的知识层次与哲学智慧,思辨性极强,内容丰富、视角开放、不拘泥于固定模式。其作品具有敏感的预见性,在90年代初就已经开始探讨十几年后的今天人类遇见的有关于国际政治、社会、文化冲突、城市化以及人性的问题了。他善于运用隐喻和反讽的艺术语言,把中国文化和西方文化的对话提升到哲学的高度加以思辨。
Talk about the history of contemporary art in China since the past 20 years, Chen Zhen is definitely an artist can not be missed. Chen Zhen (1955-2000) Shanghai, one of the earliest installation artists in China, moved to Paris in the 1980s and started to create installations using everyday objects such as canvas beds, mattresses, bowling balls and more. As an active cross-cultural Chinese artist in the West, he is good at asking questions to the world and asking questions about human nature. Because of his deep introspection and comprehension of native culture, he also found his own way to cross both through the full opening up of native culture to foreign cultures. Chen Zhen’s work contains a wealth of knowledge and philosophical wisdom, highly speculative, informative, open-minded, not rigidly adhere to the fixed pattern. Its work is sensitively predictive and in the early 1990s the issue of international politics, social and cultural conflicts, urbanization and humanity that humanity met more than a decade later has been explored. He is good at using the metaphorical and ironic art language to raise the dialogue between Chinese culture and western culture to the level of philosophy to speculate.
